At the heart of these songs is the band’s shared belief that we as humans are falling short of who we should be and how we should exist in the world. Constantly oscillating between different frequencies, sometimes in harmony, other times vibrating against one another causing friction, this is where the conversation begins on ASHRR’s debut album Oscillator. The Los Angeles-based musical collective, including singer Steven Davis and artists/producers Ethan Allen and Josh Charles, in the live setting transform these songs into entirely new states of being. From the city that’s embraced their exploration with analog synthesis and post-rock themes, these three live tracks, “Made Up Your Mind,” “Artifact” and “Paper Glass,” carry a more urgent and visceral impact than the album versions.
