Description

Songs of Solitude Vol 1 is one of many. In these short projects you will hear nothing more than guitar and vocals. When I was first called to sing I was given just an electric guitar. This is where I started and this is what I want to remember. So every now and then I put out a small collection of simple songs. As I go forward into my music career I hope to never forget my past. I hope to never forget that before any stage or studio it was just me, the Father, and my guitar. These are my Songs of Solitude.

Window Pain:

This song is about leaving your comfort zone to be where Christ wants you to be: grounded in His word. We all have struggles with staying where we feel safe instead of going where the Father needs us. A lot of times where He leads us to is full of danger and pain but we must have faith that He will bring us through. In this song a boy is sitting in his room when he notices the pouring rain outside. Without hesitation he opens his bedroom window and climbs outside. Now, I'm sure you've been caught in the rain at some point. Whats your first reaction? Run for shelter. So why would this boy do the opposite? Instead of staying inside where it's comfortable, he goes outside into the pouring rain. He plants himself in the soil outside of his house and waits for the rain to nourish his body, mind & soul.

Lyrics

Verse 1:

Catch the rain, Falling from the sky

Hands are open wide, Seeking your face

Your are more, Than my thought describe

As Your water falls, Out of my eyes

Chorus:

Into your glory, Out of my pain

Open a window, To feel Your Holy rain

(x2)

Verse 2:

I’m leaving all my comfort in my room

Grounded in Your word until I bloom

Face towards the sand, This is all I am

As Your water falls, Out of my hands

(Chorus)

Bridge:

Oh what a joy To live, tonight

Grounded in Your word, Grounded in Your vineyard

Oh what a joy, To breath

Your sovereign air, Falling down on me

Giving me new life (x4)

(Chorus)

Giving me new life (x4)

Out of Your Way:

This song is about letting go of your own will in order to let Christ be the head of your life. Only after we have surrendered can The Holy Spirit move without boundaries. There is a desperation that comes upon a person as they wait for the Father. We want Him but we want us as well. In the end something gives. Those who have been filled with the Spirit have been emptied first. It's the emptying that hurts but the peace that come after is worth the pain.

Lyrics

Ohhhh

Verse:

I stand, in the corner, Weeping at my own ability to comprehend

This is more, than I thought, Oh my mind it keeps me in control

Letting go, is so hard It has led to desperation

Oh my soul Is losing every ounce of strength I thought I ever had

Chorus:

This is the place, The place where You want me

Where you can move, Move without boundaries

Out of Your way, Removing my footsteps

So You can walk, Walk for me

Ohhh

Bridge:

Out of Your Way, So You can move

Without boundaries, Lord please remove me

(x2)

Out of Your way, Ohhh

Without boundaries, Without boundaries

(x2)

Falling Grace:

This song is about the glory of the LORD falling down on His people. Just imagine a beam of light descending all the way down from the heavens, past the stars. As we grow weary and tired of the life on earth we long more for the eternal. We long to be where Christ is: in the presence of the Father. It is a long road but it is worth the agony and pain. Let this be a daily reminder of what we are fighting for.

Lyrics

Chorus:

Grace Fall from the stars

Fall from the stars

(x2)

Verse 1:

This world has left, Nothing but scars

This world has left, Nothing but chains on my heart

Nothing but bondage and slavery

I need to be, Free from this life

I need to be, Free from the tethers of earth

Free from the bondage of earth

You sent Your son, To set free Your captives

Walking the way to, Your house Show me the way to You final dwelling

(Chorus)

Verse 2:

I am Your sheep, I follow my Shepherd

Through weakness and striff, All of the trials of this life

All of the trials of this earth

Easy to say, But so hard to walk

Lord let me live, For you with more than just talk

For you with more than just words

Planting my feet, Rooted and grounded

Walking the way to Your house, Show me the way to You final dwelling

(Chorus)

Bridge:

And I, I want to be

Right where You are

(x2)

Ohhh

Oh wont You rain, Showers of light

Over my face

(x4)

Something to Hold On to:

This simple song reminds us all to do one thing: hold on! Though it way seem like nothing this is all we need. Though is may seem like nothing He is all we need. Christ is always there to grab on to when we feel down. He may not always give us what we want but He is always there to provide us with what we need: Something to Hold On to.

Lyrics

Chorus:

Something to hold on to

Something to hold on to

Verse:

This is my last, I’m giving all I have

All I have for, You This is my last

I’m spending all I have, All I have for You

This is Your will

Why would I not be part of all Your plans

This is Your flask

Why would I not anoint You for Your Day of Glory

Hold on, Thought is my seem like nothing

This is all I need

(x2)

(Chorus) (x2)

Strength & Power:

The lyrics to this song are based off the Song of David found in 2nd Samuel 22. After a great and long battle David gives praise and thanks to the Father for delivering his enemies into his hands. In the song he acknowledges Him as his strength. In this same way we also acknowledge Him as our strength. When we are in our trials and the Father delivers us from them we give thanks and praise because, at the end of the day, He didn't have to but He did it anyway. For this we should always be grateful.

Lyrics

Chorus:

You are my strength, You are my power (x2)

Verse 1:

And in the snares of death I call out to You

You are my fortress, My crown

Bow the Heavens and come down

Bolts of lightning, Scattered arrows

From Your voice, The thunder falls (x2)

(Chorus) (x2)

Verse 2:

The shield of salvation, You have made me great

Blessed be my rock, Praises to Your name

Bolts of lightning, Scattered arrows

From Your voice, The thunder falls

(x2)

(Chorus) (x2)

Bridge:

Deliver me, From the enemy

We exault Thee Above all

(x2)

Bolts of lightning, Scattered arrows

From Your voice, The thunder falls

(x2)

(Chorus) (x2)
