Boh Doran has been performing since she could barely walk. Her early days playing festivals and music halls throughout her native Midwest launched a nomadic musical journey that has taken this stunning singer/songwriter/musician from coast to coast and everywhere in between.
Soon after high school graduation, Boh headed out to the nation’s capital for a brief foray into politics. But the pull of creativity proved to be too great, and she quickly formed a band and started performing shows around town. The band’s success brought them to New York City, where Boh decided that it was time to go it alone. And once again, she took the show on the road. In an unusual step, Boh moved out to a rural Iowa farm to concentrate on songwriting. The solitude she found inspired a new voice and a shiny new batch of demos. Next stop – Los Angeles.
Once on the West Coast, she began a collaboration with producer/writers Ethan Mentzer (The Click 5) and Jon Kaplan (New Politics, Ingrid Michaelson, A Great Big World) that built on the nascent Iowa demos and became the songs that comprise the self-titled debut Boh Doran solo EP.
Influenced by the classic soul and rock writers of the 60s and 70s and laced with a blend of retro groove and modern indie pop production, the EP explores the deeper and sometimes darker side of the human heart. Boh describes it as “a smoky take on the hungry side of love”.
Boh Doran is endorsed by Gibson and has been featured on NBC’s Jimmy Lloyd Songwriter Showcase, Italian Vogue, The Huffington Post, Radar Online, Kings of A&R, The Burning Ear, and others.
