E.E. Cummings (1894-1962) is one of my favorite poets. My first contact with his poetry was through a book containing a selection of his most well-known poems.
While reading them, I immediately thought that it would be amazing and challenging to put into music those powerful and, at the same time, delicate words. The first challenge facing this project was to choose the poems that I would like to write music for. Cummings' work is so vast and there are a lot of his poems that I really like. So, in this album, there is a selection of his poems - my favorite ones.
In my opinion, "It may not always be so" is one of the most beautiful poems ever written (and it is my favorite poem of Cummings) so, I had no doubt that the title of the album was going to be "It may not always be so".
However, my biggest challenge was how to pass on all the underlying emotions of those powerful words and how to describe, through music, all the feelings that those poems evoke.
With this album, I want to present my vision on these poems and I really hope to take the listener on a musical journey into the world of E.E. Cummings' poetry.
