Hailing from Cleveland and now based in Columbus, Captain Kidd is an alternative dance-pop group that meshes the energetic music of artists like Foster the People and Arctic Monkeys with the catchy pop melodies of singers like Justin Timberlake. The group formed in late 2012, performing around the Cleveland club circuit for increasingly larger crowds. The following year, the band sold out their first two headlining shows (at the Grog Shop and Mahall’s, respectively) and released their first single “Freaky Love”, turning heads and generating a significant buzz in the Ohio music community. Captain Kidd released their highly anticipated self-titled EP on February 14th, 2014 and will perform at major music festivals around the Midwest this spring and summer alongside some of today’s biggest recording artists.
