With his debut album "Everything That Rises Must
Converge" Dane has created a piece that is dynamic and cohesive. Sonically
the album stretches from fingerpicked folk to full-blown rock and ranges from
stripped down to full band. Textured with a creaky old upright piano,
hollow-body slide guitar, and dark cello, Dane delivers these songs in a voice
that roars and whispers, always seeking the emotional heart of the song.
A natural storyteller, Dane's songs paint pictures of places and
people, times and moments that are rich with color and movement. With a lyricism more akin to a novelist than a songwriter,
his songs are at once wry, charming and bittersweet. Like a Steinbeck book,
they walk the tension of darkness and loss in order to find the lights of hope.
