Description
Don Tapert's first Noisetrade release covers a period of time in this Detroit born musician's career that bridges between 1980 and 1986 - when after several years of club gigging with his popular Tapert Sparling Band and The 2nd Avenue Band, he decided to embark on a solo Singer/Songwriter career in New York and Nashville. Tapert's writing has always been the story with his various musical ventures, dating back to his seminal 60's garage band, The Beaubiens, and their Michigan single 'Times Passed'. He continued to write in his college years in Ann Arbor and Boston/Cambridge, before settling in Detroit's bohemian arts enclave in the Cass Corridor, where he honed his writing, while becoming a popular music figure in this vital artists/poetry/rock scene. After a successful run with his singer/keyboardist partner Tim Sparling, as the duo they expanded to a four piece band unit adding electric bass and drums and continued their ascent in the 70's Detroit music scene. After separating Tapert formed a more rocked up, guitar based unit - The Second Avenue Band with several lineups and personnel. These six songs show the best of the recently uncovered studio recordings showcasing the writing/vocals and guitar work of Don Tapert and The 2nd Avenue Band.
