Elmo Karjalainen

For fans of:Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Guthrie Govan
Elmo Karjalainen is a guitarplayer from Finland. At the moment he plays in the bands Deathlike Silence, Conquest and Seagrave. He has an album of instrumentals out, called "Unintelligent Designs", which has received excellent reviews. He also has a digital EP out by the name of "Unintelligent Leftovers", which is available here on Noisetrade. Elmo enjoys all manner of music, from classical to extreme metal. His influences are some of the usual suspects, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, Steve Lukather, and Gary Moore, along with a few other (some maybe surprising) guitar players, Jeff Beck, Danny Gatton, Vlatko Stefanovski. These are maybe his main influences as far as guitar playing goes, but musically he has a whole host of other influences, who are maybe more important in many ways. These include Devin Townsend, Genesis, Pekka Pohjola. Elmo uses Sale Custom guitars and a certain brand of amp that goes to 11, plus the occasional Fractal Audio Axe-FX. He also uses speech to convey meanings occasionally, and sometimes even he gets used (not very strange in the music business).
