During the 1930's, the city of Los Angeles became home to German émigré who engraved their modernist style of music into the city. In the 1960's, the Sunset Strip of Hollywood, Los Angeles became a breeding ground for rock and folk rock artists who formed groups like The Byrds and Buffalo Springfield. Later in the 1980's and the 1990's, Los Angeles artists like Dr. Dre, Easy-E, Ice Cube, and Snoop Dogg contributed to the development of rap and gangsta rap in the city by combining hard hitting lyrics with hip hop influenced beats.
Intentional Records’ key objective is to support serious artists and musicians who simply appreciate music and its powers, while building on the extensive musical history of Los Angeles. To many, building on an entire city’s musical history may come across as overwhelming. However, Intentional Records sees it as an opportunity to maximize creativity and endless possibilities.
What does this mean? It means that Intentional Records is setting out to inscribe its own musical style and influence into the Los Angeles musical history. This is achieved not only by taking on one music genre, but by incorporating the majority of the styles that live in Los Angeles. Thereby allowing opportunity for maximum creativity and endless possibilities.
