Since her pivotal career move into the music ministry in 2015, Jolie has been through a whirlwind of growth and change in her life. After a decade of teaching middle school and high school students, she felt compelled to follow God’s call to be a singer/songwriter. It really has been quite a ride.
“I knew early on God was calling me into ministry of some sort; and, I’ve always felt passionate about singing and songwriting. However, it was not until I took a leap of faith that I discovered God had been at work all along. I was looking at my life through my own narrow view, instead of trusting the unknown to the God of the universe.”
Over the years, Jolie came to the conclusion, that music ministry was just not in the cards for her. After devoting time to raising a family, and taking the job that made sense, she decided to give up on her dreams of pursuing her calling. However, in God’s perfect timing, His ultimate plan began to unfold.
“I have been on my knees doing a lot of vertical outpouring and soul-searching like never before. It’s been amazing how God has been opening doors this past year; especially, when I thought the doors had already been closed shut.”
Now, with Jolie’s new single ‘How Much He Loves Me’ soon to be released in February, she has been reminded of how faithful God is.
“This song, ‘How Much He Loves Me’ was written out of the realization of just how much my God has loved me not only with a cross, but throughout my entire life in so many surprising and wondrous ways. God, in His infinite wisdom, orchestrates our lives so lovingly. That’s why my release date for my single is on February 14th, Valentines Day, which is also the day of my salvation.”
Jolie writes worship songs with a fervor, and holds herself to a high standard as her fulfillment comes from doing it “As unto the Lord.” Also, it’s coming from her desire to be faithful and share God’s message to all who will hear. She has enjoyed her outreach ministries as well, whether it involves leading worship for Bible study and coffee houses, or working in schools teaching abstinence, or sharing her faith in the women’s prisons.
“I didn’t think it was possible to do something you’re passionate about and be able to fulfill your calling for the Lord at the same time.”
Jolie accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior as a child, on February 14, 1974, by her pastor and next door neighbor. Her family had been of the Catholic faith, when they were invited to go to the pastor’s church–Bethany Baptist. Soon afterwards, they walked the aisle and received Christ in the pastor’s study. John 3:16 became Jolie’s life verse, which says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that we should not perish but have everlasting life.”
“Coming from a huge family of six, sometimes I felt like I was lost in the shuffle, as the baby of the family. Sort of like David who wasn’t even considered in the family line-up to be suitable as king. However, I learned from early on, no matter what, I can always cling to God and His word. God has always been there to help me through the ups and downs of my life’s journey. Even though I strayed from the faith, and felt less than perfect, or left out, God has remained faithful, through it all. And, even in the trials, it is there when God has been the closest to me –He will never leave my side. Pr. 18:24 says, “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” -ESV.
Jolie delivers a message of hope and encouragement for the church to the glory of God! She has a worshipful, acoustic sound, that is soulful coming from a heart that desires to praise her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and give Him the glory!
