Today is my 40th birthday. Also, coincidentally, it is #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources.
This song, 40 (by U2) is a cry for justice from the book of Psalms. I wanted to use my voice on my birthday to cry out for the tens of millions of slaves around the world caught up in trafficking today.
The Faith Alliance Against Slavery and Trafficking (FAAST) is a strategic alliance of Christian organizations working together to combat slavery and human trafficking. FAAST exists to mobilize and equip communities to combat slavery and human trafficking and to restore survivors. FAAST sees a world of transformed communities, free of slavery and exploitation.
This #givingtuesday, please support FAAST by donating to their ongoing efforts to end modern day slavery across the world.
God bless you and hope you enjoy the song.
