Notions Of Stereo

For fans of:The Beatles, Matthew Sweet, Squeeze, Neil Finn
Both fans of classic pop, particularly of the British species, Neil Oliver and Kent Theaker literally met in the commission of their craft, both contributing to a song demo (via a mutual friend) in the tape studios of CFUV, the campus radio station of University Of Victoria in 1993. Thus began their lo-fi adventure: some 30-plus songs were made between 1993-94 (while BritPop was going on an ocean away), spanning three demo cassettes. Life intervened, Kent moved to an opposite coast, but they continued recording whenever they could throughout the 90's and 2000's. Finally, in 2009, the decision was made to deliver on this initial lo-fi pop promise. Between 2009 and 2010, they recorded enough specific material for their studio debut as Notions Of Stereo. With loops and grooves grounding basic guitar songs, in the best tradition of all good pop records, this album is a grower. It will win a valued spot on your iPod playlist!
