Kandace Michelle Evans, better known as "Kama Kazi" is a very expressive and talented faith based rapper and a extraordinary creative songwriter. She is making sure that she gives back to the Creator. God is using her as a vessel that can evoke holiness in the hearts and minds of the you throughout the United States through her music. Being the youngest of three siblings she has had many life experiences as well as family members who help guide and mold her into the women she is today. With both of her parents being ministers in the church she knows the aspects of the voice of God, who is their to lead her and guide her in all areas of her life.
She started rapping at the age of 15 and has been ministering through rap for the past 10+ years. Kama Kazi released her first solo project entitled "Life Support vol. 1," the project was released March of 2010. "Who is Kama? ep" is set to be her 2nd project and is simply a reintroduction. This project was released October of 2013. In the past she has been featured on Mahogany Jones and Friends: The Gathering, Dj Sean Blu Ladies First Mixtape, written for Tim Bowman Jr.'s Beautiful album, and a few other local projects. She has worked under and with Mahogany Jones, Ironiclee, Path of Revelation, Tim Bowman Jr. Chris Clark, Malcolm Bryant, and many more.
Kama Kazi has appeared at a network of events and conferences across the United States and have graced the stage with artist such as Lecrae, Flame, Mali Music, Marvin Winans Jr., Kierra Sheard, Tim Bowman Jr., Rock Nation, JwilMusic, Only1Way, Mahogany Jones, and many more. In the early states of Kandace life, she took on a passion for basketball and through her persistence she received a full athletic scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-Madison in June of 2003. While on campus at Wisconsin, Kandace not only played for the Lady Badgers, but off the court she help start a christian organization called Worship, Word, and Fellowship (WWF). Being at Wisconsin for about 2 years she decided to come back home because she felt that God had another plan for her. She continued her basketball career at the University of Detroit-Mercy. Upon graduation from UDM in the spring of 2008 w/ a Bachelors of Science and Arts degree in Business Administration, Kandace went on to Boston, MA, to work on her masters degree at Cambridge College. She completed her masters program May of 2011, graduating with Masters in Teaching students w/ moderate disabilities. Currently she is a special education teacher working in the inner city of Detroit, Mi.
