"Refreshing"is the word most often used to describe the music of WIND. Wind consists primarily of Nori & Barbie Kelley, often augmented by Carly Rooks. Nori has been a worship leader since 1982, and he and Barbie have been worship pastors/leaders in many churches since they were married in 1993, and have also trained & raised up numerous worship leaders and musicians in the U.S. as well as in Japan & Siberia. They were listed in the “Encyclopedia Of Contemporary Christian Music,” published in 2003. The Kelley’s have been heavily involved in missions since 1995, leading worship & church planting in Japan (spending a total of over 4 years there). They've taken nearly 30 mission trips - to Japan, England, Siberia, Ireland, Mexico & to the Navajo in Utah. Nori & Barbie continue to take young people to Japan on an annual basis, ministering in various churches there.

Born in Japan, but raised in Alabama from age 9, Nori Kelley is a veteran session musician who has worked with Jon Anderson (Yes), Jon Camp (Renaissance), Dave Hope (Kansas),Will McFarlane (Bonnie Raitt / Muscle Shoals) the Chi-Lites, as well as christian artists Michael English & Glenn Garrett. CCM magazine once compared his guitar playing to both Mark Knopfler and Phil Keaggy. Mel Bay Publications released two of Nori’s guitar teaching projects internationally, both of which were best sellers. He has also played a major role in the production of seven Vineyard Worship Japan CDs (1999-2016). Nori has produced & engineered over 40 album projects in all, and has played on hundreds of recordings.

Barbie Kelley hails from the Wilmington, Delaware area and comes from a large musical family. She began playing the flute at age 9, and now plays percussion and guitar as well. She has played & sung on many recording sessions. Her voice has a pleasant, almost Celtic-like quality, and has been compared by some to Natalie Merchant. Audiences love her flute playing, and WIND’s flute and guitar combination achieves nice results. Barbie has written a musical with Nori called “No Love, No Peace - The Musical, “ geared toward middle/junior high school students, dealing with issues such as bullying & suicide. It was debuted at AAST High School in Myrtle Beach, SC in 2017 and “WIND & Friends” released the musical soundtrack in 2018. Nori & Barbie hope to see it performed in schools everywhere in the near future.

Recently joining WIND on vocals & acoustic guitar is Carly Rooks. Carly was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is currently majoring in Music Business at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. From an early age, Carly played guitar in church and has experience leading elementary and youth worship bands. As an intern, Carly joined WIND on the 2018 and 2019 Japan Mission Tours, and toured with them in the spring and summer of 2019. She also recorded vocals & acoustic guitar on their new album project. Carly will be focusing on her education for the time being, perhaps joining WIND on occasion until the summer of 2020.

Nori and Barbie currently perform in the Myrtle Beach, SC area, hitting the road several times a year to different regions of the U.S, leading worship and doing concerts in churches. Japan has also become an annual destination where they lead worship in both English & Japanese, perform concerts and minister.
WIND’s music is an original mixture of prog rock, classic rock and folk, influenced by British artists like Pink Floyd, Mark Knopfler, Yes & Renaissance, as well as North American artists like Bruce Cockburn & Tom Petty.

Their new album, scheduled for late September / early October 2019 release, is called “Incense,” and is a worship album - their first since 2006’s “Wa,” which was in English & Japanese. “Incense” contains 12 tracks ranging from the short call to worship, “Come Let Us Worship (from Psalm 95)” to the almost 14-minute progressive rock epic, “Instrument Of Worship,” which features Carly on lead vocals. Rich with the word of God, most of the lyrics for this album were taken from scripture. “Incense” will be released on CD as well as on all major internet outlets, with a companion EP titled, “Kaori (the Japanese word for incense)” to follow soon after with six of the songs from the album sung in Japanese!

WIND is available to perform and/or lead worship as a trio or duo.

"I've worked with Nori, Barbie and friends on several albums now and they always make me smile… The new 'Seasons' album is an absolute tour de force, both musically and spiritually. The musicianship would be hard to fault and Nori's writing seems to improve with each album - miss it at your peril!”
