CNN Asked That a Trump 2020 Ad Be Edited, Trump’s People Claim They’re Being Censored

Trump’s relationship with CNN has seen its … downs. While the media company attempts to hold Donald Trump accountable, Trump responds by sharing meme after meme after meme of CNN being killed or mutilated in various ways. It’s right at about the level of intelligent discourse we’d expect from our benevolent leader.

That said, when it was revealed today that CNN refused to run a paid Trump ad on the air, it came as little surprise. According to THR, the 30-second ad—named “Let Trump Do His Job”—spends the majority of its runtime pointing out the president’s “enemies” that don’t want him to succeed. A few of those enemies? CNN anchors Don Lemon and Anderson Cooper.

For their part, a CNN spokesperson told THR:

CNN would accept the ad if the images of reporters and anchors are removed. Anchors and reporters don’t have ‘enemies,’ as the ad states, but they do hold those in power accountable across the political spectrum and aggressively challenge false and misleading statements and investigate wrong-doing.

Good luck with that, CNN.
