Joss Whedon Launches Save the Day Voting Campaign With Star-Studded, Laugh-Out-Loud Funny Video

Joss Whedon wants you to vote. He wants you to vote so badly that he collected every famous person he knows—which is a lot of famous people—for a video. The writer-director has launched Save the Day, a Super PAC focused on getting people to vote on election day.

The campaign launches with a PSA filled with stars. Everyone from Robert Downey Jr. to Mark Ruffalo to Hamilton’s Leslie Odom Jr. makes an appearance, all in the hopes of convincing Americans to vote. Whedon returned to Twitter to debut the campaign, asking his followers what he’s missed while he’s been gone.

The website for Save the Day describes the Super PAC as:

… A short-form production company dedicated to the idea that voting is a necessary and heroic act. That every voice in this wonderfully diverse nation should, and must, be heard. That the only thing that can save democracy is the act that defines it. We are committed to fighting the apathy, cynicism, and honest confusion that keeps citizens from using their vote. And to reminding an increasingly out-of-touch and compromised set of representatives that they are answerable to the people they were hired to serve.

Although neither candidate is mentioned by name in the ad, it’s clear that Whedon has taken a side in the election. As Don Cheadle puts it, there’s one candidate who is “a racist, abusive coward who could permanently damage the fabric of our society.” Odom Jr. follows up by asking, “Do we want to give nuclear weapons to a man whose signature move is firing things?”

With the election less than two months awat, many entertainers have decided now is the time to get involved and make their voices heard. They have the largest audience, after all. Check out the hilarious PSA above, and find out just how naked Mark Ruffalo will get if you vote.
