YouTube Cuts Logan Paul From Preferred Program, Shelves Other Projects

YouTube has followed up on their statement condemning Logan Paul by removing the vlogger from the Google Preferred advertising system and placing all of his current YouTube Red projects, including the forthcoming sequel The Thinning: New World Order, on hold. His role in the YouTube Red comedy series Foursome has also been cut.

The decision comes 11 days after Paul uploaded a disturbing video showing an apparent suicide victim in Japan’s Aokigahara Forest, more commonly known as the “suicide forest,” under the pretense of it being “the most real vlog I’ve ever posted.” The video unsurprisingly caused an uproar.

YouTube’s decision revokes Paul’s access to many of the revenue streams content creators utilize to monetize content—members of the Google Preferred program are able to utilize the most lucrative advertisers the platform offers. Paul will not have access to those top-tier advertisers for the immediate future.

Paul went silent on Jan. 4 after posting an apologies to both YouTube (which was initially labeled as a monetized video) and Twitter, and has not issued a public response to YouTube’s punishment.
