Scientist March on D.C. Being Planned

Science has taken a bit of a beating in recent days and weeks, so to recover from some of those politically inflicted wounds, scientists are banding together.

A group, operating under the Twitter handle ScienceMarchDC, has formed and intends to march on the capital to “Take a stand for science in politics.” On their accompanying website, the group continues: “Slashing funding and restricting scientists from communicating their findings (from tax-funded research!) with the public is absurd and cannot be allowed to stand as policy.”

In the time since its creation on Monday, the Science March Twitter account has amassed some 177,000 followers as of this writing, and sister marches in cities such as Seattle are currently being planned. There’s no official date yet for the marches, but the group has said one will be announced soon. Read a brief message from the organizers below.
