WATCH: A Ridiculous Deflected Goal Helps Secure A Comeback Win For Newcastle

With ten minutes left in regulation, Newcastle United looked set to take a tough loss away at fellow promotion hopefuls Brighton & Hove Albion. By the time they entered stoppage time, Newcastle had won the damned thing.

The highlights are definitely worth two minutes of your time, but you’ll definitely want to see Newcastle’s equalizer in the 81st minute (start at 1:25 in the video). Christian Atsu hit an awful shot on the rebound following a corner kick that somehow deflected off teammate Daryl Murphy and then deflected again off of Mohamed Diamé, bouncing off his plant foot and looping over opposing defenders to find the back of the net. How does this even happen?

Eight minutes later Ayoze Pérez finished off a low cross to secure the win for Newcastle. The result took the Magpies to the top of the Championship table and eight points clear for automatic promotion. At this rate we could very well be seeing Newcastle back in the Premier League after all.
