Claire Dane Nails 2016 Met Gala Theme With Luminescent Zac Posen Dress

Style News

There’s no question that one of fashion’s biggest and most anticipated events is the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Met Gala benefit. Not only does the night draw out entertainment’s biggest A-listers, but the red-carpet portion never ceases to deliver some of the most creative and complicated ensembles.

While past years have focused on subjects like gods and cubism, this year’s theme was officially Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. Social media buzzed as celebrities, actors, musicians and designers flaunted everything from their prep process to their red-carpet walk leading up to the night’s main festivities.

As should be expected of any major style event, there were quite a few wins in the name of designer art (Beyonce and Karolína Kurková certainly slayed), while others committed serious style no-no’s (congratulations to Katy Perry for that eyebrow-less borg look and double points to everyone who wore silver because we didn’t see that coming).

One attendee, however, managed to not only stun but literally drop our jaws at the genius execution of this year’s theme. That attendee was none other than Homeland star Claire Danes, who arrived at the opening night of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit in a beautiful gown from designer Zac Posen. The dress definitely gave off debutant style vibes, but it’s sharp, symmetrical edges and shimmering sheath were subtle nods to the technology theme.

It appeared to be a simple fairytale-like take on the futuristic subject, until the dress’ underlying feature hit Instragram. What appeared to be a classic ensemble literally lit up the night and the event. The garment was crafted from organza and fiber optics, which gave it that perfect starry night appearance—and embodied the elegant creativity and femininity Danes is known for.
