Apple Won’t Let You Lose Your Wireless AirPods

When Apple announced last year that they were doing away with the headphone jack on the iPhone 7 and replacing it with the wireless AirPods, many of us wondered what the future would look like with the impossibly small headphones that any reasonable person is capable of losing. Well, it turns out that it’s not that big of a deal you guys, because Apple is here for you. They’re not going to let you just lose some of their finely wired tech without adding a liability software to help you locate them. They’re cool like that.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the iOS update 10.3 will include some software for the Find My iPhone app that will help you locate your AirPods. It’s not entirely foolproof, because it operates through Bluetooth, so it all depends on the range of your device, which could be “potentially hundreds of feet.” And who knows what sort of awful noise they’ll make? So is it worth it? Maybe, but only if you’ve already spent the money on the AirPods, and haven’t already lost them. If you have, sorry—Apple can’t help you with that.
