The History of Apple Pie

Words by Sean Moeller, Illustration by Johnnie Cluney, Recording engineered by Ian Grimble and Richard Matthews of Communion Music at 2KHz, Crouch End, London

The History of Apple Pie is the salty with the sweet.
It is the feeling that you're just barely treading water.
It's been swept down river by a current that you underestimated when you got into the water.
It's time getting away from you, slipping away into some unwanted drama.
It's a long road that keeps on going, never giving any miles back no matter how high you get the speeds up to.
It's seeing blood drip down the walls, from the ceiling.
It's feeling your heart pumping more and more frantically than you know it should.
It's feeling like you're being abbreviated or teased or both.
It's jumping into the sparks ticking maddeningly from a welder's table.
It's feeling like you could be grumbly or you could be sunny, both at the same time.
It's dark winds and light rains.
It's more crust than you'd like. Less fruit than you'd like.
