American Horror Story‘s Murder House Was (Briefly) An Airbnb Destination

It looks like the living really aren’t welcome in the Murder House.

The Alfred Rosenheim Mansion, better known as the Murder House from American Horror Story’s first season, is a declared historical monument. And over the weekend, this cultural landmark briefly appeared as a rental on Airbnb.

“One Of The Most Important Estates Ever Built in Los Angeles, The Alfred Rosenheim Mansion Was Declared A Historical Monument And Cultural Landmark,” the listing read. “Built In 1908 This Stunning Architectural Masterpiece Boasts Original Features Throughout.”

The rental posting has since been taken down, but according to Time Out Los Angeles, the short-lived listing included an asking price of $1,450 a night. The home is the definition of Hollywood mansion, featuring nine bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms. On the whole, the home can accommodate more than 16 people.

Built back in 1908, the Rosenheim Mansion was bought for $3.2 million back in 2015. Although there have been no reports of actual hauntings at the house, it has been cast in some terrifying roles for Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dexter, The Twilight Zone, The X-Files, and both American Horror Story’s first and latest season.
