The Boondocks Creator Aaron McGruder, Will Packer Teaming for Amazon “Alternate Universe” Series

Aaron McGruder and Will Packer will team up for a new Amazon original series, in the same vein as The Man in the High Castle insofar as it’ll be an “alternate universe.”

There are no plot details as of yet, but these are some pretty heavy powerhouse names to be working alongside each other. McGruder is most well-known for his acclaimed animated TV series The Boondocks, which helped him nab a Peabody Award. Most recently, he wrote the screenplay for 2012’s George Lucas-produced Red Tails and the live-action comedy Black Jesus for Adult Swim. Packer is a producer on the upswing, most notable for Straight Outta Compton and the Ride Along series. He also received an Emmy nom as an executive producer on History Channel’s 2016 Roots limited series.

This is a potentially exciting pairing, and an exciting addition to Amazon’s original content. One might even wonder if they’ll pull from our current political/social climate.
