We’re Getting a Second Season of American Gods

Starz has officially renewed American Gods for a second season, after its widely celebrated first two episodes. This is exciting news, because it means that Bryan Fuller can continue to create great TV. Here’s hoping that someone can pick Hannibal back up.

What’s really cool is that the first episode of American Gods has reached more than five millions views on a multi-platform viewership, according to Nielsen. So, yeah, this show is huge. There’s no official word as to when exactly the second season is expected to air, but let’s hope it’ll be about this time next year. A Deadline report has it “expected to launch in mid-2018.”

Carmi Zlotnik, president of programming for Starz, got excited about the second season in a release, saying, “Bryan Fuller, Michael Green and Neil Gaiman have evolved the art form of television narratively, structurally and graphically with American Gods, and we’re thrilled to be working again with these artists as they continue to build the worlds and wars of the gods.” We’re thrilled, too.

American Gods airs Sunday nights on Starz at 9 p.m. EST. You can read our thoughts on the first two episodes here and here, and find a recent feature on the series here.
