Killer Mike Talks Activism, Racial Justice, Bernie Sanders with Colbert

“If white people are just now discovering that it’s bad for black or working class people in America, they’re a lot more blind than I thought,” said Killer Mike, on last night’s Late Show with Stephen Colbert. “And they’re a lot more choosing to be ignorant than I thought. The same problems that we’re discussing today, we discussed in 1990, 1980, 1970, and 1960.”

Killer Mike, one half of the rap supergroup Run the Jewels, joined Colbert to talk about his activism, racial justice in general, and his support for Bernie Sanders specifically. (There’s also some talk about how Ralph Lauren makes perfect sweatsuits for the PTA father.) As hard as it is for Colbert to let his guests speak, he mostly manages to give Killer Mike center stage, and the results, even in a six-minute clip, are educational. Watch it above, and don’t forget to pick up the third Run the Jewels LP when it comes out later this year.
