Watch the Dear White People Netflix Adaptation’s Trailer

Justin Simien’s award-winning Dear White People is coming to Netflix as a television adaptation—watch the first trailer above.

The 2014 movie version of Dear White People explored contemporary race relations as seen through the eyes of black college students at fictional, predominately white Winchester University. It was warmly reviewed, with Paste’s review rating it a high 9.1 out of 10. The television series will have the same story premise, but with a cast that includes new faces such as Logan Browning (Brotherly Love) and Antoinette Robertson (Hart of Dixie), plus the return of Brandon P. Bell as Troy Fairbanks.

If the television series is anywhere as good as the movie (and with an episode directed by Moonlight’s Barry Jenkins, the odds look excellent), then we expect viewers to be completely blown away. In our current political climate, Dear White People might be exactly what we need.

The show’s 10-episode season, which spotlights a different character in each episode, will premiere this spring on April 28 on Netflix.
