Emmys 2017: The Handmaid’s Tale Wins the Night (Full Winners List)

Hulu’s timely dystopian drama The Handmaid’s Tale led the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night, winning Best Drama Series, Best Actress (Elisabeth Moss), Best Supporting Actress (Ann Dowd) and awards for writing and directing—dusting Netflix’s soon-to-return sensation, Stranger Things (which was shut out of the major categories), and broadcast behemoth This Is Us (which nabbed Sterling K. Brown an award for Best Actor).

On the comedy side, Veep continued its string of victories, as did star Julia Louis-Dreyfus, while Atlanta’s Donald Glover took home prizes for both acting and directing. Saturday Night Live earned awards for Variety Sketch Series, directing, and performers Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon. HBO also scored with Big Little Lies, which won for Best Limited Series, Best Actress (Nicole Kidman), and Jean-Marc Vallee’s direction.
