The First Episode of Euphoria Is Streaming for Free on HBO’s Website

Good news: The pilot episode of HBO’s gritty coming-of-age drama series Euphoria is now available to stream for free on HBO’s website.

The Zendaya-led series, which was written and is showrun by Assassination Nation provocateur Sam Levinson, debuted to widespread acclaim on Sunday night.

Loosely based on an Israeli series of the same name, Euphoria aims to capture the lives of teenagers in the digital age, where social media, self-medication and self-harm replace sex, drugs and rock and roll in corroding the teenage psyche.

The pilot follows a 17-year-old recovering addict, played by Zendaya, as she returns home from rehab with no plans to stay clean. At the final party before the new school year, she is lured into the orbit of the new girl in town.

The show features an extensive roster of newcomers, including Maude Apatow, models Hunter Schafer and Barbie Ferreira, The Hate U Give’s Algee Smith and The Kissing Booth’s Jacob Elordi.

In an attempt to curb any unwanted harm from the explicit nature of the show (and to implore the general public that we are not in Disneyland anymore), Zendaya issued a trigger warning on her Twitter on the night of the premiere. Take her warning with a grain of salt before you venture forward.
