Barry Is “Irredeemable” in First Season 4 Trailer

For aspiring actors, the good thing about being incarcerated is that there’s plenty of time to apply the Stanislavski Technique to get into your character’s head. The bad thing is, well, pretty much everything else.

In the brand-new official trailer for Barry’s fourth and final season, it looks like Barry Berkman (Bill Hader) is taking the “given circumstances” step a little too far and having a hard time reflecting on his own past, present, and future while doing time.

The trailer for HBO’s acclaimed pitch-black comedy hints at the aftermath of Barry’s explosive third season finale, which saw the titular hitman ambushed by police and arrested for at least one of his many crimes. Now, donned in his baby-blue prison jumpsuit and sporting a freshly black-and-blue eye, Barry “is trying to change,” though an isolated prison yard and some baton-happy guards aren’t exactly helping him in that manner. Meanwhile, Fuches (Stephen Root) is ready to seek vengeance for Barry’s betrayal, Sally (Sarah Goldberg) “thinks [she] might be in a lot of trouble” as she processes Barry’s past, Gene (Henry Winkler) has retreated to the mountains, and NoHo Hank (Anthony Carrigan) is looking stylish as ever as he and Cristobal (Michael Irby) assure themselves that “everything’s going to be great”—we’ll see about that.

Barry is created by Alec Berg and Bill Hader, with Hader directing all eight episodes of its final season. Season 4 will premiere on Sunday, April 16 at 10:00 EST on HBO and be available to stream on HBO Max. Check out the official trailer here:
