Hulu Orders Female Vengeance Pilot from The Handmaid’s Tale EP Warren Littlefield

Films and TV shows about female revenge are enjoying newfound popularity in this #MeToo age, as movies like Revenge, Thoroughbreds, Proud Mary and Breaking In stir up critics, and shows like Big Little Lies and The Handmaid’s Tale ring with newfound poignance. Hulu is now looking to capitalize on their past success with The Handmaid’s Tale by ordering a new pilot from the hit show’s executive producer, Warren Littlefield.

Reprisal will follow “a relentless femme fatale who, after being left for dead, leads a vengeful campaign against a bombastic gang of gearheads,” according to Variety. Littlefield will executive produce alongside A+E Studios executive vice president Barry Jossen. Josh Corbin (StartUp) is slated to write the script, with Jonathan van Tulleken (Movie 43, Misfits) directing.

It’s kind of hard to believe that there’s still room for all-male-headed creative projects about female trauma in this post-Weinstein world, but here we are.
