Netflix Takes on New Animated Series Set in Jurassic World Universe

Netflix is teaming up with DreamWorks Animation to produce the latest installment in the never-ending, spangled Jurassic franchise, an animated series set within the 2015 film’s timeline titled Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.

Set to debut on the streaming platform in 2020, the series will follow six teens attending an adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nubar. When certain dinosaur-related incidents leaves the kids stranded in the wild with no means of communication, they must join forces to survive and outlast the creatures.

Netflix released a short teaser trailer in anticipation of the series, which shows a clip of a menacing-looking dinosaur stalking the Isla Nubar brush and attacking the camera. Netflix’s preview page for the series also went live on the platform today.

The series is a continuation of Netflix’s ongoing partnership with DreamWorks Animation to produce original animated family programming. Camp Cretaceous will join a roster of other original Netflix series produced in conjunction with the studio, including the Tales of Arcadia trilogy and The Boss Baby: Back in Business series.

Scott Kreamer (Pinky Malinky) and Lane Lueras (Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny) will serve as showrunners, and will executive produce alongside (literal franchisee) Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow.

Outside of Netflix’s reach, the third Jurassic World blockbuster will debut in theaters on June 11, 2021. Universal Studios Hollywood will also open their new Jurassic World attraction later this summer.
