BBC America’s New Series Killing Eve Gets April Premiere Date

During the Television Critics Association winter press tour, BBC America announced the premiere date for its latest original series Killing Eve: Sunday, April 8.

Based on a series of novellas by Luke Jennings, the series follows an obsessive cat-and-mouse game between bored, lowly MI5 security officer Eve (Sandra Oh) and talented, unfulfilled killer Villanelle (Jodie Comer). Along with Oh and Comer, the cast features Fiona Shaw, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Kim Bodina, David Haig, Sean Delaney and Owen McDonnell. Fleabag creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge acts as the show’s writer.

When speaking about the series, BBC America president Sarah Barnett stated, “In Killing Eve, a genius bunch of women behind and in front of the camera transcend the predictable with this funny and heart-stopping twisted cat and mouse thriller.” Barnett illustrated her enthusiasm by saying the new series “stands out in a sea of scripted stories” in the Television Renaissance.

Besides being the show’s writer, Waller-Bridge also takes on the roles of showrunner and executive producer alongside Sally Gentle and Lee Morris of Sid Gentle Films Ltd., with Oh and Colin Wratten serving as producers. Sid Gentle Films is producing the series in conjunction with BBC America.

Killing Eve debuts Sunday, April 8, at 8 p.m. EST. Find out more about the forthcoming series here, and see first-look still images from the show below.
