Mad Men Creator Matthew Weiner Teams Up with Amazon for New Show

TV News Matthew Weiner

Mad Men helped to define the golden age of television, and its creator Matthew Weiner has taken a year to relax following the show’s conclusion. Now, Weiner is coming back to television, partnering with Amazon for an eight-episode series that he will write and executive-produce, per Deadline. Weiner is also expected to direct roughly half of the episodes.

Details about the new show are still mysterious, but Deadline reports that “Weiner is turning his attention to present day with the untitled series, which we hear is contemporary anthology set in multiple locations worldwide.”

That likely means that Weiner has made the smart choice to leave his Mad Men universe alone. Instead, he’s venturing into a limited series, which seem to be the go-to format for talented people these days, which isn’t exactly a bad thing.
