Watch a Teaser Trailer for the Second Season of Ozark

Thursday, Netflix released a teaser trailer announcing that crime drama Ozark will return on Aug. 31.

Ozark stars Jason Bateman as money-laundering accountant and everyman father Marty (a role a few steps away from Michael Bluth) and Laura Linney as Wendy, his wife and accomplice in crime. The pair moves to a vacation home in the Ozarks to pay off a debt to a Mexican drug lord (and don’t worry, the kids come, too).

According to Netflix’s official synopsis, things don’t look much brighter for the Byrdes in the second season:

Marty and Wendy struggle to balance their family interests amid the escalating dangers presented by their partnerships with the power-hungry Snells, the cartel and their new deputy, Ruth Langmore, whose father Cade has been released from prison. The stakes are even higher than before and the Byrdes soon realize they have to go all in before they can get out.

The latest trailer for the second season even sounds anxiety-inducing. In the brief 40-second teaser, music swells, punctuated by gunshots and car crashes, before eventually cutting to silence as Wendy asks, “So that’s it? We go back in that house, we go to bed, we wake up in the morning and we kiss the kids?”

“That’s exactly what we do,” Marty replies. Because, yeah, Marty, it’s always that simple.
