AMC’s Outrageous Drama Preacher Returns for Season Three This Summer

Hell hath no fury like a West Texas preacher, his badass ex-girlfriend and an Irish vampire embarking on a journey to find God. Dominic Cooper returns as Jesse Custer, a former disillusioned preacher, with Academy Award nominee Ruth Negga as his ex, Tulip, and Joseph Gilgun as the vampire Cassidy for ten new episodes of Preacher.

According to AMC’s announcement on Monday, season three follows Jesse on his continuing quest to find God, which takes him back to the small plantation where he grew up in Louisiana. Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy arrive in Angelville, where old grudges and dangerous obligations await them. Jesse is going to have to escape his past in order for the world to actually have a future.

Preacher also stars Ian Coletti, Graham McTavish, Pip Torrens, Julie Ann Emery and Malcolm Barrett as series regulars, and new series regulars including Betty Buckley (Supergirl, Split) and Colin Cunningham (Blood Drive, Falling Skies). Jeremy Childs (The Last Castle, Nashville), Liz McGreever (Star, Nashville), Jonny Coyne (Turn, Alcatraz), Adam Croasdell (Reign) and Prema Cruz (Mozart in the Jungle) are recurring guest stars.

Cooper has had a very successful film career starring in acclaimed hits like Mamma Mia, Captain America: The First Avenger and My Week With Marilyn, on top of starring in The Duchess with Keira Knightley and the Need for Speed adaptation with Aaron Paul.

Negga made her breakthrough performance in Cannes hit Loving the same year she started Preacher in 2016. She received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her heartfelt performance as Mildred Loving, a woman who was arrested because of her interracial marriage in 1960s Virginia, which ultimately lead to a historic Supreme Court decision.

Preacher was developed for television by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Sausage Party, This is the End, Superbad) and showrunner Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad). The series is executive produced by Catlin, as well as Rogen, Goldberg and James Weaver for Point Grey Pictures, Neal H. Moritz and Ori Marmur for Original Film and Vivian Cannon, Jason Netter, Michael Slovis, Mark McNair and Ken F. Levin.
