Here’s Your First Look at Hulu’s Mars Exploration Drama The First

Hulu is looking to compete with rival Netflix by poaching House of Cards creator Beau Willimon, whose new Mars-based drama The First will debut on Hulu this fall. The series, starring Sean Penn, Natascha McElhone, Laz Ingram, LisaGay Hamilton, Oded Fehr, Eitan Hafri and James Ransone, follows “the first human mission to Mars, while exploring the challenges of taking the first steps toward interplanetary colonization. The story focuses not only on the astronauts, but also on their families and loved ones, as well as the ground team on Earth,” according to a 2017 report from TVLine. The series filmed in New Orleans with a staggering $54.6 million budget.
