Unnerving First Trailer for Spike’s Remake of The Mist Looks Promising

Stephen King’s The Mist is getting a 10-episode television remake by way of Spike, and it looks really great. While the original novel and the 2007 Frank Darabont film are about the fear of the unseen, as in obscured monsters in the mist, this adaptation looks like it’s taking on a more psychological horror-centric spin.

After a brutal crime rips apart a small-town family, an eerie mist rolls in, separating the town of Bridgeville, Maine, from the rest of the world. And things get kinda crazy from there, erupting in catastrophic violence. There’s also a crazy pastor, an isolated soldier and the struggle against a homosexual awakening.

The Mist premieres on Spike at 10 p.m. EST on June 22, and stars Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Isiah Whitlock, Jr. and Frances Conroy. Check out the trailer above.
