Netflix’s The Witcher Has a December Premiere Date and New Main Trailer

Highly anticipated Netflix series The Witcher is debuting globally on Dec. 20. Fans at the Lucca Comics and Games convention in Lucca, Italy, on Thursday were treated to the brand new main trailer, which confirms the series’ release date.

Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) leads the cast of The Witcher, playing the role of Geralt of Rivia, alongside other main cast members Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri.

The show, which wrapped up production earlier this May, is based on the best-selling fantasy book series of the same name (the five novels, which date back to 1992, also spawned a popular videogame series). All eight episodes of the series will be available to stream at once, as traditional Netflix releases go. The two-and-a-half-ish-minute-long official trailer has all the important stuff: intense drama, flickering candlelight, monsters and Cavill’s monster-killing lead, Geralt, in a shallow bathtub.
