Westworld Had the Most-Watched First Season of Any HBO Show

TV News Westworld

There’s this little science-fiction show on cable called Westworld, and it’s been doing pretty well for itself.

According to Deadline, its first season finale aired this Sunday and notched 2.2 million viewers. With replay airings and viewings on HBO Go and HBO Now factored in, that total is brought up to 3.6 million viewers. With that episode, Westworld has become the most-watched first season of any show in HBO history, beating out Game of Thrones. Across all platforms and airings, Westworld averaged 12 million viewers per episode.

Of course Westworld’s viewership pales in comparison to present-day Game of Thrones, which averaged 23.3 million viewers across all platforms and airings during season six. And though we won’t be seeing a season two until 2018, it’s good to know this Westworld show has a few fans.
