Around the office, we're feeling the SXSW hangover. Our jam-packed week in Austin was nothing short of wonderful, but as sunburns fade and our iTunes continues to process all our new music finds, exhaustion is setting in. Running a band might be the most perilous business venture this side of starting up a restaurant. In both cases, you have to manage contentious personnel while keeping the tasty goods flowing to a ravenous public. So making it ten years in either industry is quite the accomplishment. Eels Announce New Tour with Smoosh

Eels (pictured above) have announced their 2006 tour, featuring young indie-rock mavericks Smoosh as opening act. The tour starts May 25 in Los Angeles, then winds through the west, midwest and northeast of the U.S. and also Canada before the band heads to Europe and then returns for Chicago's Lollapalooza festival in August. New Eels CD/DVD Set Hits Stores Feb. 2006

Vagrant Records will release a CD, Eels with Strings: Live at Town Hall, alongside a Image Entertainment DVD release on Feb. 21, 2006. The recordings feature frontman Mark Oliver Everett, aka E, with his seven-piece backing band, which includes an all-girl string quartet. This release follows this spring's Blinking Lights and Other Revelations double-album.... read more
