Death Grips Share 22-Minute Megamix, Tease New Album

Last night, experimental hip-hop trio Death Grips once again overcame their ambivalence with social media to offer up a surprisingly direct announcement on Facebook. The post, if to be believed to the letter, means yet another Death Grips album is in the works.

In the meantime, however, the band has shared “Steroids (Crouching Tiger Hidden Gabber Megamix),” a 22-minute suite comprised of material possibly left on the cutting room floor from past records. The mix, in true Death Grips fashion, is cacophonic, grimy and lands like a punch to the neck.

Death Grips’s last full-length album, Bottomless Pit, came out in May of last year. The group’s sonic architect, Zach Hill, released an album with his lo-fi rock project The I.L.Y.’s, Bodyguard, earlier this month. Still struggling to square away Death Grips’ abrasive aesthetic? See our Rebrand a Band segment for our mock-up designs of the trio as if they were hosting Yo Gabba Gabba! Listen to “Steroids (Crouching Tiger Hidden Gabber Megamix)” below.
