Jade Castrinos Booted from Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros

Music News

For a band that builds its songs around love and friendship, things appear to be in a turbulent state with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Vocalist Jade Castrinos has been kicked out of the band, which explains a recent series of peculiarly Jade-less performances by the psychedelia tinged folk outfit.

On Instagram, Castrinos posted: “for seven years I sang and wrote music with edward sharpe. They voted me off tour a week before they left, via email. lol.”

No reason has been given by either side for the split, but frontman Alex Ebert did post a response via Facebook. The post has since been deleted, according to Jambase.

Ebert expressed that he would not yet elaborate on the situation in accordance with Castrino’s wishes, but did note that the band as a whole did not want to continue playing with her on this tour.

“We did not feel right doing this tour with Jade,” Ebert said. “That fact breaks my heart in ways I don’t want to describe.”

However, Ebert did seem open to a reunion eventually, leaving the situation open. Hopefully all involved will be able to work out their differences, as Castrinos has proved a powerful and dynamic vocalist within the band.
