Watch Katee Sackhoff and James Van Der Beek In This NSFW Power Rangers “Power/Rangers” Revival

The Power Rangers are all grown up in this fan film directed by Joseph Kahn. But the world they’ve grown up into is not at all like the Saturday morning show you watched growing up. The Rangers are now on the losing side of an intergalactic war and dealing with trauma and the loss of their friends.

“Power/Rangers” stars Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica’s own Starbuck) as Kimberly, the Pink Ranger and James Van Der Beek as Rocky, the Red Ranger, who has betrayed them all and keeps the Pink Ranger prisoner. It runs about 14 mintues long and features well-choreographed, bloody fight scenes, with graphic violence on a level with Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, to which the short film even makes a little reference at one point. The special effects are spectacular and on par with blockbuster fare like The Avengers or Transformers franchises. It’s all topped off with swearing, nudity and drug use.

Adi Shankar is the producer behind “Power/Rangers” and has produced several other “bootleg short films” such as “The Punisher: Dirty Laundry, ” “Venom: Truth in Journalism ” and the “Judge Dredd: Superfiend ” series, as well as theatrical films The Grey and Dredd.

As much as we might like to see this fan film be turned into an R-rated feature, Kahn has made it explicit that he has no desire to make it, even if offered the chance by a studio. That’s fine, as there’s enough action in this little film to satiate us for awhile.
