The first trailer for the Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, was released early Tuesday morning.
The film takes place in 1920s New York, 70 years before Harry reads magizoologist Newt Scamander’s book of the same name at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizadry.
Fantastic Beasts follows Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander as he searches for the fantastic beasts mentioned in the film’s title. Along with searching for these unusual creatures, the film will also tell the story of an American community who must deal with a judgmental and prejudiced anti-magic society called the New Salem Philanthropic Society. The sinister group, led by Mary Lou (Samantha Morton), will go to great lengths to kill any and all witches and wizards.
Redmayne will be joined by Carmen Ejogo, Gemma Chan and Jon Voight, as well as Colin Farrell and Ezra Miller.
The film, which will be directed by David Yates, marks the screenwriting debut of Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theaters Nov. 18, 2016.
