Bruce Springsteen Offers Free Download Of Concert In Chicago

Music News Bruce Springsteen

Maybe, just maybe, today is the day when life as normal can resume on the East Coast. If you’re one of the people whose plans to see Bruce Springsteen at Madison Square Garden last night were put on hold, The Boss has a little treat for you: he’s releasing a free download of his Jan. 19 concert in Chicago.

“The live recording of The River tour from the Jan. 19 Chicago show will be available as a free MP3 for the next two days,” Springsteen announced last night on his website. Given the timing of the announcement, you have until tomorrow evening at 8:00 p.m. to download the concert, which you can do here.

It’s a ton of music—a total of 33 songs. In addition to playing their 1980 album The River in its entirety, Bruce and his E Street Band tossed in many of the classics and opened the five-song encore with a cover of The Eagles’ “Take It Easy,” a tribute to the dearly departed Glenn Frey.

No makeup date for the postponed Madison Square Garden show has yet been announced, but Springsteen will be playing his upcoming Wednesday evening concert there as scheduled.
