Half of Havana’s Population Attended The Rolling Stones’ Cuba Concert

Music News The Rolling Stones

More than one million Cubans attempted to attend a free Rolling Stones concert Friday in the country’s capital city, according to a press release from the band.

“We know that years back it was hard to hear our music in Cuba, but here we are playing. I also think the times are changing,” Jagger told the crowd in Spanish, Reuters reports.

Most Western music has been banned in Cuba, but the warm island is melting away its Cold War-era policies. Last week President Obama became the first sitting president to visit Cuba in 88 years in an act of good faith that the two countries will usher in a new era of good relations.

Mick and the boys played a two hour show with a setlist that ran through all the classic Stone’s songs including “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Satisfaction” and “Brown Sugar.” You can watch a very small sample of it below.
