The Avett Brothers
have released a new song called “Satan Pulls the String” ahead of their new album, True Sadness, due out on June 24.
According to co-founding member Seth Avett, the song “started as a quiet and calm depression-era banjo song, and somehow in the studio it blossomed into a genre that I don’t even have a name for … the frenzied yet mechanical energy of it is a first for the band.”
The band recorded the majority of the album with the legendary Rick Rubin at his Shangri La Studios in Malibu. The band have also shared a video detailing the creation of “Satan Pulls the String,” as well as an album trailer of more in-studio footage.
The band have released two other songs from the album so far: lead single “Ain’t No Man” and the album’s title track.
