Joe Manganiello is Deathstroke in Ben Affleck’s Solo Batman Movie
Photo by Mike Windle/Getty Movies News Joe ManganielloA little more than a week ago, Ben Affleck posted blurry footage from a film set of somebody in a dead-on, comic-accurate Deathstroke costume, sending comic nerds into a frenzy, but giving us no other information about who was under the mask or what movie the character would be appearing in.
Well, now we have the answer.
According to The Wall Street Journal, DC Entertainment’s Chief Creative Officer, Geoff Johns, has confirmed that Magic Mike star Joe Manganiello will play Deathstroke in the forthcoming solo Batman movie. Deathstroke can go toe-to-toe with Batman in combat and Affleck’s Batman is a walking tank of a man, so physically, Manganiello should be a good on-screen match.
Johns declined to comment on Deathstroke appearing in 2017’s Justice League, which is currently filming, but the Batman standalone is too far off for the footage to be from that. Unless it was simply test footage for the costume, it’d make sense if what we saw was a glimpse at the character’s cameo in Justice League. A cameo in Justice League, with Deathstroke and Batman going at it in an all-out kung-fu brawl, would be a great tease for his appearance as the main antagonist in the Batman solo movie.
