Everybody Wants to Be a Star in the New Sing Trailer

Sing is American Idol with animals. The new trailer for the film drives that message home, and tells the story of contestants on a singing competition show who are pursuing their dreams in spite of some sort of adversity.
Set to Aerosmith’s “Dream On” and Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” we see an elephant (Tori Kelly), a porcupine (Scarlett Johansson), a gorilla (Taron Egerton) and a pig (Reese Witherspoon) all looking for glory during the competition. The competition is run by Buster, a koala voiced by Matthew McConaughey who has modulated his voice up for the performance.
Sing features more than 65 covers of songs by everyone from Sam Smith to The Beatles. The film is from Illumination Studios, who produced The Secret Life of Pets and Despicable Me. Written and directed by Garth Jennings, Sing is set to hit theaters on Christmas Day. Until then, check out the new trailer above.
